Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Museums
The Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Museum was established in 1998 in the grand Qatari fort at Al Samriya Farm with its distinctive, breath-taking exterior. Built of local stone, with traditional turrets, the building is a collector’s piece. Designed to preserve and display the extraordinary artefacts collected by Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani, the building’s historic Qatari architecture contrasts with modern day Doha. Sheikh Faisal is dedicated to preserving and promoting Islamic heritage for the people of Qatar and its international visitors. The museum has expanded since its opening to include new facilities for research and education purposes, as well as state-of-the art facilities for entertainment.
Spanning over a century, the breath-taking car collection consists of more than six hundred cars. All the vehicles are in working condition and are frequently loaned for motor shows and display alike. From trucks to convertibles, steam cars to limousines, we have them all!
In 2013, Sheikh Faisal opened a new museum in the heart of West Bay, Doha’s business district, The “Sheikh Faisal Oriental Carpet Museum”. The Oriental Carpet Museum hosts a wide range of unique carpets including more than 500 carpets from Iran, Turkey, India and Egypt dating from the 17th century up to the 20th century.
